It was a rough fall 2022 campaign for the Central Lady Tigers, who went 8-24 last season and missed out on postseason play.
Thanks to a bunch of returning starters and experience for coach Wes Green’s squad, the Lady Tigers are looking to change that this season.
One of Green’s trio of seniors, Avery Warner (.308 average last season) is back at shortstop.
Three of the remaining returning starters are juniors — pitcher Ayrland Jiles (.447 average last fall), catcher Allie Harris (.213) and utility player Camyrn Gilliam.
Two sophomores, first baseman Cambree Bair and outfielder Breanna Taylor, round out the returning starters for Green.
Senior second baseman Kallie Henning, junior outfielder Rylee Rowland and freshman third baseman Alyvia Warner likely will round out the starting line-up.
Senior Melanie Caughman, sophomore Cheyenne Busch and freshmen Keeley Poindexter, Julia Michio, Jahseylyn Gonzales, Gabby McGlothlin and Layklynn Johnson.
“We’re a work in progress,” said Green, who will be aided by new assistant coach Victor Pierce — who was previously the Panama Lady Razorbacks basketball coach. “We’re still building, learning and growing up. We’re definitely getting better, and our program is growing fast.”
