The Cowgirls are coming off a 2022 season in which they posted an 11-4-4 record and fifth-place conference showing with a 4-2-3 mark. OSU returns five starters from a year ago but lost four All-Big 12 performers.
Conference newcomer Brigham Young University is the coaches’ favorite to win the league, with Texas Christian University coming in second and defending champion Texas third. West Virginia, Texas Tech and Central Florida are also picked ahead of the Cowgirls.
Four Big 12 teams are ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll — TCU (No. 9), BYU (13), Texas (15) and UCF (24).
OSU entertained Missouri in an exhibition match Saturday at Neal Patterson Stadium before opening the regular season with a home contest against Stephen F. Austin on Thursday.
