Fishing Report for August 16, 2023

EUFAULA: Aug. 11. Elevation is a foot above normal and rising, water temperature 83 degrees and murky. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass fair on crankbaits, in-line spinnerbaits, jerk baits, plastic baits and worms around creek channels, main lake, points and rocks. Blue, channel and flathead catfish good on cut bait, dough bait, live bait, live shad, shad and sunfish below the dam, main lake, river channel and river mouth. Crappie fair on hair jigs, minnows and spoons around brush structure, channels and docks. Report submitted by Jake Rowland, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.

GRAND: Aug. 13. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 85 degrees and murky. Largemouth bass good on plastic baits, rogues, spinnerbaits and topwater lures around flats, shallows and shorelines. Blue and channel catfish good on shad around flats and main lake. Striped bass hybrids and white bass fair on plastic baits, sassy shad and spoons around coves and main lake. Comments: The catfish bite remains decent on the upper parts of the lake while drifting shad. Find the bait, find the fish! White bass activity is still brisk as well in coves and flats late and early! Report submitted by Hank Jenks, game warden stationed in Delaware County.

GREENLEAF: Aug. 13. Elevation is a foot above normal and stable, water temperature 90 degrees and clear. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits, plastic baits, spoons and topwater lures around brush structure, points, rocks and weed beds. Blue catfish fair on chicken liver, cut bait, shad and sunfish around coves and points. Crappie slow on jigs and minnows around brush structure and docks. Report submitted by Dylan Langford, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

LOWER ILLINOIS: Aug. 11. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 59 degrees and clear. Rainbow trout fair on in-line spinnerbaits, midges, nymphs and PowerBait below the dam. Comments: Best areas are below the dam and at the Watts area and best times are early morning and late evening. Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Sequoyah County.

ROBERT S. KERR: Aug. 11. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 85 degrees and stained. Largemouth and spotted bass good on buzz baits, plastic baits, small lures and topwater lures around brush structure, coves, points, rocks and weed beds. Blue, channel and flathead catfish good on hot dogs, minnows, shad, stinkbait, sunfish and worms below the dam, main lake, river channel, river mouth and tailwater. Crappie good on hair jigs, jigs, minnows and small lures around brush structure, channels, points, river channel, standing timber, tailwater and weed beds. TENKILLER: Aug. 13. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 89 degrees and clear. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass good on crankbaits, plastic baits and spinnerbaits around brush structure, channels, points and shorelines. White bass good on Alabama rigs, crankbaits, in-line spinnerbaits, small lures and tube jigs around channels, flats and main lake. Crappie good on hair jigs, minnows, tube jigs and worms around brush structure, docks and main lake. Report submitted by Cody Youngblood, game warden stationed in Cherokee County.

WEBBERS FALLS: Aug.13. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 90 degrees and stained. White bass good on crankbaits, in-line spinnerbaits, plastic baits, small lures and spoons below the dam, points and river channel. Largemouth and spotted bass fair on crankbaits, plastic baits, spinnerbaits, spoons and topwater lures around coves, points, riprap and weed beds. Blue catfish good on cut bait and shad around points and river channel. Report submitted by Dylan Langford, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

WISTER: Aug. 11. Elevation is a foot above normal and rising, water temperature 91 degrees and stained. Largemouth bass fair on bill baits, buzz baits and plastic baits around brush structure, creek channels, main lake and river channel. Blue catfish good on cut bait and hot dogs around main lake and river channel. Crappie good on jigs and minnows around brush structure, channels and main lake.
