The Central Tigers scored five touchdowns during their first football scrimmage against the Keys (Park Hill) Cougars on Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
Three different individuals rushed for touchdowns — Bo Locust on a 70-yard scamper, Ryker Miller on a 50-yard run and Easton Girty on a 15yard carry.
The Tigers scored their other TDs through the air as Joseph Lee hit Nathan Vann on a 35-yard touchdown pass and Braxin Goodwin connected with Kyle Harden on a 30-yard scoring pass.
What may have been even more impressive was the Tigers kept the Cougars out of the end zone the entire scrimmage.
“I was impressed defensively,” Central coach Jeremy Thompson said. “We did not give up a touchdown all night. I wanted us, No. 1, to be physical, and I wanted us to be fast. Our offensive line played well. We had great effort. Now, we can build off this and fix our mistakes.”
The last preseason game for the Tigers will be at 7 p.m. this Friday as they entertain Morris. The scrimmage originally was slated for 6 p.m., but got moved back to combat the heat.
