Last week was quite a week for Vian Lady Wolverines; Mother Nature affecting games this week
It took two weeks into the season, but we finally had one of our eight local softball teams have a perfect week.
It took two weeks into the season, but we finally had one of our eight local softball teams have a perfect week.
The Vian Lady Wolverines went 5-0 last week. They started last week with a pair of road wins Aug. 14, 15-4 over host Heavener and 10-2 over Cameron.
Then, Vian got a pair of walk-off victories, Aug. 15 with a 3-2 win over Spiro and 4-2 over Eufaula on Thursday.
The week was capped with an 11-0 road win Friday afternoon over the Central Lady Tigers.
I thought it ironic that it was Central coach Wes Green who told me when I came out earlier this month for his team’s photograph day that he thought the best softball team in the county was the Vian Lady Wolverines, who ended the week by blanking Green’s Lady Tigers on Friday.

Mother Nature is once again playing havoc with the local fast-pitch softball schedule.
After rain caused several Week 1 cancelations Aug. 7-12, most of this week’s games are being altered by having them either canceled or moved to night games.
