Adjustments to various utility rates, sanitation and landfill fees for Sallisaw go into effect Sept. 1. The increases were recently approved by city commissioners.

A summary of some of the adjustments include:

• $2.84 increase for residential water users based on average usage of 4,000 gallons per month

• $7.75 increase for commercial water users based on average usage of 16,000 gallons

• $4.35 increase in residential sewer rates based on an average billing of 5,000 gallons

• $10 increase in commercial sewer rates based on an average billing of 16,000 gallons

• $3 increase per month for residential sanitation rates for the first poly cart, and $7.50 per month for each additional cart

• $5 increase per month in commercial sanitation rates for the first poly cart, and $12 per month for each additional cart

• $1 increase per cubic yard in commercial dumpster rates, with final dumpster charges based on the dumpster size and how many times the dumpster is serviced each week

• Increase to $380 per setting for commercial rolloff containers

• Increase to $32 per load up to 10 cubic yards for curbie curbside pickup services, with an additional $5 per cubic yard for all loads over 10 cubic yards

• $7 increase to $41 per ton for municipal landfill tip fees for non-contract customers “Through the years, the city has maintained the lowest utility rates possible,” City Manager Keith Skelton says. “These adjustments are meant to keep up with the escalating cost of labor, materials and capital needs required to operate the city. Based on average usages, a residential customer can expect an overall average impact of $10.19 per month.

“We sincerely appreciate your business and thank you for your understanding. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance.”
