Fishing Report for August 23, 2023

EUFAULA: Aug. 18. Elevation is a foot above normal and falling, water temperature 77 degrees and stained. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass fair on crankbaits, jerk baits, jigs and plastic baits around channels, points, riprap and rocks. Striped bass, striped bass hybrids and white bass fair on crankbaits, hair jigs, jigs and shad below the dam, discharge and tailwater. Blue, channel and flathead catfish good on cut bait, dough bait, live bait, live shad and sunfish around channels, river channel, river mouth and rocks. GRAND: Aug. 20. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 85 degrees and stained. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits, plastic baits and topwater lures around brush structure, docks, shallows and shorelines. Blue catfish good on cut bait, shad and shrimp around flats and main lake. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around brush structure and docks. Report submitted by Riley Willman, game warden stationed in Delaware County.

GREENLEAF: Aug. 20. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 86 degrees and clear. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits, plastic baits, spinnerbaits, spoons and topwater lures around points, rocks and weed beds. Blue and channel catfish fair on chicken liver, cut bait, shad and stinkbait around docks, flats and main lake. Crappie slow on jigs, minnows and small lures around brush structure and docks. Report submitted by Dylan Langford, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

LOWER ILLINOIS: Aug. 18. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 60 degrees and clear. Rainbow trout fair on caddis flies, in-line spinnerbaits and PowerBait below the dam. Comments: Best times are early morning and late evening; the best areas are below the dam and at the Watts area. Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Sequoyah County.

ROBERT S. KERR: Aug. 18. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 80 degrees and murky. Blue, channel and flathead catfish good on crickets, hot dogs, minnows, shad, stinkbait, sunfish and worms below the dam, creek channels, main lake, river mouth, tailwater and weed beds. Largemouth and spotted bass good on buzz baits, minnows, small lures, spinnerbaits and sunfish around brush structure, coves, points, tailwater and weed beds. Crappie good on hair jigs, jigs and minnows below the dam, brush structure, coves, docks, river channel, tailwater and weed beds. TENKILLER: Aug. 20. Elevation is 1.5 feet above normal and stable, water temperature 88 degrees and murky. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass fair on buzz baits, jigs and plastic baits around brush structure, docks and points. White bass good on crankbaits, in-line spinnerbaits and jigs around brush structure, channels and main lake. Blue, channel and flathead catfish fair on chicken liver, cut bait, live bait, shad and sunfish around channels and main lake. Comments: Anglers can have success with bass by fishing early morning or late evening, throwing into areas with shade or fishing deeper water. White bass are being caught by trolling the main lake and channels, especially the lower end of the lake. Catfishing is good by road or setting out of jugs. WEBBERS FALLS: Aug. 20. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 86 degrees and murky. Blue and flathead catfish good on cut bait, live bait and shad around flats, river channel and tailwater. Largemouth and spotted bass fair on crankbaits, plastic baits, spoons and topwater lures around brush structure, coves, points and rocks. White bass fair on in-line spinnerbaits, jigs, sassy shad and small lures around points, river channel and tailwater. Report submitted by Dylan Langford, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

WISTER: Aug. 18. Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 94 degrees and stained. Largemouth bass fair on bill baits, jigs and plastic baits around brush structure, creek channels, main lake and river channel. Blue catfish fair on cut bait and hot dogs around main lake and river channel. Crappie good on jigs and minnows around brush structure, main lake and river channel. Report submitted by James Williams, game warden stationed in LeFlore County.
