SALLISAW TOPS

Members learn about transformation

By Billie Anthony

Monday we had eleven weigh in and one visitor, with a loss of 11.1 pounds and gain of 11.3 pounds giving us a net gain of .2 pounds. Next week we should see a chapter loss if we do our chapter challenge by cutting back on our salt intake and also walking more than we walk daily. Our Thinner Winner this week was Mary with a loss of 3.9 pounds. Great job, Mary! Keep up the good work. Our Two Bit Bowl winner was Brenda. Our Loser’s Lotto ended today and Doris was the big winner with a $30 win. We will start a new contest next week. Four ribbons were removed from the Surprise Box.

I was happy to be back with our TOPS Chapter. I have been gone for three weeks on a cruise to Greenland and Iceland. I am so happy to be home and with my chapter sisters. My chapter sisters carried on while I was gone. Thank you, Phyllis, Virginia and Annette for giving the programs. I heard good comments about you ladies.

Our program today was from TOPS President Rick Danforth letter to TOPS members titled Elements of Transformation. A quote from him “Transformations do not happen overnight and there is no set timetable for the change to be completed. Some may struggle along the way and a supportive gesture may be exactly what is needed to keep momentum moving forward.” As I told the ladies, transformation is just not on the outside, but also the inside as we lose our weight. We see our small successes and begin to feel better about ourselves and become happier mentally. There are many elements that come into play in order to achieve a change. Members who transformed their lives found the right mix of TOPS tools to help them achieve their goals. In 1968, our founder, Mrs. Esther Manz touched on this subject when she commented on how we should act at chapter meetings: “The best way to show each other that we care and that we believe in what we are trying to accomplish in TOPS is to be kind, conscientious and honest in whatever we do, be it counting calories or in praising a fellow TOPS member.”

We closed our meeting with the TOPS Pledge.

EVERYONE is invited to visit. The FIRST VISIT is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:30am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:30am and meeting starts at 11am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918-413-1383. We look forward to meeting you.
