A warning about Moms For Liberty
A warning about Moms For Liberty
Dear Editor,
In reference to a recent organizational meeting in Sallisaw of the Moms For Liberty organization, which I attended — and was asked to leave by state Senator Warren Hamilton.
I hope to raise a warning about this group infiltrating our community.
Following their recent failures in larger areas such as Bixby, they are targeting more rural communities to gain traction. Please do your research in reputable, non-biased sources before supporting this group solely on the advice of friends or church leaders.
Janice Danforth, chair of the Tulsa County Moms For Liberty chapter, presents their mission as a very reasonable aspiration to keep pornography away from children, a goal we could all agree on. But their true mission is much more ominous. The organization lures well-meaning people into their group through this tactic to enrage their audience while their real endeavor is censoring educational material to create division and marginalize certain groups of people. It is no coincidence that this group has been labeled as an anti-government, extremist organization by several sources.
As displayed at the meeting on Thursday evening, questioning their evaluation of censored materials or their motives is not welcome. Please be cognizant of their manipulative techniques and learn the facts before supporting any organization and their teachings.
