Personnel decisions made, resignations accepted

The board called the meeting to order and established a quorum with Ken Pack, James Thornton and John Ford all present, while Joe Paul Simon and Jeff Cotner were absent.
In the section dedicated to business matters, the board presented the payroll, encumbrances, and warrants for all funds. Approval was granted for encumbrance #139 through #166, resulting in a net increase of $151,191.42 within the 2023-24 General Fund. No changes were made within the 2023-24 Building Fund or Sinking Fund.
The board then moved on to address various regular business items. Among them, the board approved changes to the 2023-24 school year calendar. School capacity numbers for the same academic year were also approved. Additionally, the board gave the green light to the deregulation of the library for the upcoming year.
A significant decision was made in regard to the Secondary Career and Technology Education Program(s) for the school year. The board approved the contract for this program, paving the way for students to engage in valuable career-oriented learning opportunities.
The board also approved the adjunct appointments of David Caylyn Bair and Sherry Christina Herriman for Mid Level Social Studies positions.
Moving into the proposed executive session, the board discussed various matters related to personnel, including employment and resignations. After a series of discussions, the board reconvened in open session and conveyed their decisions.
In a unanimous vote, the board accepted the immediate resignations of Kaydi Wingo, who held the position of speech pathologist/cheer assistant; Victoria Gillespie, elementary teacher; Albis Ramos, high school teacher; Tina Ramos, elementary teacher; and Sheari Roark, elementary paraprofessional.
The board made employment decisions for the upcoming school year as well. Beth Mosley was hired as an elementary teacher’s aide, while Adria Sweet was employed as an elementary teacher. David Caylyn Bair was appointed as an elementary/middle school teacher for the school year.
The meeting concluded with a vote to adjourn at 5:48 p.m.
