The Vian Lady Wolverines entered the Labor Day Holiday Weekend on a high note after getting a 6-2 home win over the Morris Lady Eagles on Thursday afternoon at Armstrong Park.
The Vian Lady Wolverines entered the Labor Day Holiday Weekend on a high note after getting a 6-2 home win over the Morris Lady Eagles on Thursday afternoon at Armstrong Park.
The Lady Wolverines (13-5) scored a run in the first inning, two runs in the third and fifth innings and a run in the sixth inning for a 6-0 lead after six innings.
Kala Gibbins (11-4) got the win, striking out five batters in seven innings and scattering five hits.
For the game, Akeelah Truett went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored, Maisie Wells was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Hanna Mattingly was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored and LaKaila Drew hit a solo homer for Vian.

Friday afternoon in Fort Gibson, the Lady Bulldogs saw their overall record fall to 6-10 overall and 1-5 in district play.
In the first game loss to Fort Gibson, the Lady Tigers broke a 1-all tie with a three-run sixth inning.
In defeat, Danica Tune was 2-for-3, while Amarie Duran, Ashley Price and Kaira Qualls each singled for Muldrow. Jaylin Dean took the loss.
There was nothing more reported on the second game with Fort Gibson by deadline.
POCOLA 12, ROLAND 1
Thursday afternoon in Roland, the Lady Indians (15-3) broke a scoreless tie with a fiverun second inning for a 5-0 lead. Another run in the fifth inning upped the advantage to 6-0.
The lone run for the Lady Rangers (6-9) scored on an RBI groundout by Addyson Clark in the home half of the fifth inning.
In defeat, Emily Daws went 3-for-3, while Jazzlyn Teehee was 2-for-2 with a run scored for Roland.
KyLeigh Knapp (2-3) took the loss, getting one strikeout in six innings.
