Lady Pirates blank Lady Grizzlies

The Gore Lady Pirates came off the Labor Day holiday weekend in grand fashion as they blanked the Gans Lady Grizzlies 18-0 Tuesday afternoon in Gans.

After scoring three runs in the first inning and five runs in the second inning, the Lady Pirates (6-14) put the game into run-rule status with a 10-run third inning.

For the game, River Shoemake was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and a run batted in, Paige Curran was 2-for-2 with a double, four runs scored and four RBIs, Natalie Casteel was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Kynley Webb was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Sophie O’Connor doubled and scored twice for Gore.

Cheyanne Davidson got the win, throwing a three-inning no-hitter with four strikeouts.

Brianna Burris (1-8) took the loss for the Lady Grizzlies (1-11), whose lone win this season was a 23-12 road win over the Lady Pirates on Aug. 15, as Burris fanned a batter in two innings. Reina Gaona pitched the third inning.

ROLAND 16, HEAVENER 9

Wednesday afternoon in Roland, the Lady Rangers (7-11) snapped a six-game losing streak with the win.

Roland jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, which became a 13-1 advantage thanks to a nine-run second inning.

For the game, Emily Daws was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, Scarlett Qualls was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, Sara Qualls was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, Jaydance Bean doubled with three RBIs and a run scored and KyLeigh Knapp doubled with five RBIs and a run scored.

Daws (5-6) got the win, going four innings with three strikeouts, while Knapp went the other three innings with a strikeout.

VIAN 7, SPIRO 6, 9 INN.

Tuesday in Spiro, the Lady Wolverines (14-5) broke a 6-all tie in the ninth inning on Maisie Wells’ steal of home.

For the game, Wells was 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored, Kala Gibbins was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, LaKaila Drew was 2-for-5 with an RBI, Hanna Mattingly was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored and Akeelah Truett doubled with two RBIs.

Gibbins (12-4) got the win, striking out four batters in nine innings.

POTEAU 12, MULDROW 0

Tuesday in Poteau, Poteau pitcher Emma Hackler pitched a four-inning one-hitter with six strikeouts.

The Lady Pirates, who led 2-0 after an inning, put the game into run-rule status with a pair of five-run innings in the third and fourth innings.

Danica Tune’s single was the lone hit for the Lady Bulldogs (6-11 overall, 1-6 in district play). Keira Qualls took the loss.

HENRYETTA 12, ROLAND 3 Tuesday in Henryetta, the Lady Black Knights scored single runs in the first and third innings for a 2-0 lead, then added two runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning for a 8-0 lead.

The three Roland runs scored in the fifth inning on Aubriana Gragg’s sacrifice fly, a passed ball scoring Lilly Cole and Emily Daws’ RBI single to cut the deficit to 8-3, but the Lady Rangers got no closer.

In defeat, Gragg, Daws and Addyson Clark each singled for Roland’s three hits.

KyLeigh Knapp (2-4) took the loss, despite six strikeouts in seven innings.

POCOLA 9, CENTRAL 1

Tuesday in Pocola, Pocola pitcher Allyssa Parker threw a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts in six innings.

The Lady Indians broke a scoreless tie with a four-run second inning.

After a Pocola error allowed Ayrland Jiles to score in the fourth inning to cut Central’s deficit to 4-1, the Lady Indians put the game into run-rule status with a single run in both the fourth and fifth innings, followed by a three-run sixth inning.

In defeat, Jiles was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Lady Tigers (3-16). Jiles (3-16) took the loss, despite fanning two batters in 5.2 innings.

MCCURTAIN 9, WEBBERS FALLS 0

Tuesday in McCurtain, the loss dropped the Lady Warriors to 1-11.
