SALLISAW TOPS

Members learn to offer support

By Billie Anthony

We had seven weigh in today. We had a net loss of 1.6 pounds and I had the best weight loss of 2.9 pounds. Our chapter challenge is to eat more veggies this coming week. Our Two Bit Bowl winner was Annette. We will start the Ladder contest next week. Five ribbons were removed from the Surprise Box. We celebrated with Brenda her first 15.6 pounds loss since joining our TOPS Chapter. Great job, Brenda! I had the privilege to give Brenda certificate and charm for her weight loss.

The program today was “Pepper with Encouragement and Always offer Support.” An important part of TOPS meetings is listening to one another as we share our struggles, successes and plans for the future. As we offer support and encouragement, it is important to remember that everyone is different. While encouragement can be found in many ways, sometimes the simplest things can be the most meaningful to others. Each member was given a question on a strip of paper and share her feedback. 1: Do you find contests helpful and encouraging? The group agreed that it makes it fun for have challenges for us. 2: Which types of non-scale victories do you find helpful? Being able to wear our clothes we had outgrown and also having friends compliment you on how well you look. 3: What encourages you to attend weekly meetings? Accountability to the scales and hear encouraging words from chapter members. 4: What keeps you going after a frustrating weigh in? Encouragement from chapter members and knowing you will try harder this coming week to watch our portions. 5: How can your fellow chapter members help you? Again encouraging words and sharing ways that worked for their weight loss this past week.

We closed our meeting with the TOPS Pledge.

EVERYONE is invited to visit. The FIRST VISIT is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:30am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:30am and the meeting starts at 11am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918-413-1383. We look forward to meeting you.
