One of the key highlights of the meeting was the unanimous approval of Steven L. Smith Corp as the financial consultant for the 2023-24 school year. This decision underscores the board’s commitment to prudent financial management, ensuring resources are efficiently allocated to benefit both students and the district.
Additionally, the board addressed matters concerning the upcoming sale of $600,000 Taxable Building Bonds. The board resolved to set a date, time, and place for the bond sale, which was Sept. 11, 2023, at 6 p.m. in the Gore School Conference Room.

If it is spotted early and carried by the winds to high places, it can be blown out of reason. Someone said everyone has 17 seconds of fame in life but that kind of fame can be swallowed up by a bug or washed away by a spate of rain.
Having heart, not brains, make the difference. Getting rich and famous is more likely to happen if a rich relative dies and gives a brain to a dolt than someone with an ego and the need to fleece someone without their knowing it.

The meeting also saw approvals for a range of initiatives, including a pay increase for substitute teachers in the upcoming school year, approval for an out-of-state FFA trip to the National FFA Convention, and the endorsement of the Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary/ High School handbooks.
Substitutes approved for the 2023-34 include Leslie McElfresh, Ann Marie Hubler, Samantha Ohl, Nancy Kunsman, Page Townsend, Melissa Marsh, Paige Mannon, Steven Anderson, Suzie Henry, Aubrey Montgomery, and Rhonda Eagle.
Resignations were also accepted as presented from LaDonna Ferrier McGowen and Tammy Douthit.
Superintendent Lucky McCrary gave an update on the district budget, music band program-personnel, an update on construction projects, and handicap bus repair during his report.
The board meeting concluded at 7 p.m. after a comprehensive set of discussions, presentations, and approvals.
