During the Free Vaccination Clinic on Sept. 9 at Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library in Sallisaw, Dr. Paula Haraway with Sequoyah Animal Advocates said they administered vaccines to 250 dogs and 50 cats before running out.
The Rabies vaccine was donated by Cherokee Nation Office of Environmental Health; and dog and cat vaccines were donated by Petco Love.
Microchip and deworming services were also offered at a minimal charge. Haraway said Sallisaw Animal Control Officer Vicki Wyman placed more than 65 microchips at the event for the Sallisaw Animal Care Facility.
Hundreds of “pet parents” turned out with their fur babies to take advantage of the free vaccination clinic. Sequoyah Animal Advocates sponsored the event, and reported 304 rabies vaccines were administered. In addition to the free dewormer shots, doggie treats were provided, and vendors took part in the special day.
