Horn set for felony disposition docket
A man charged with two counts of lewd molestation in Sequoyah County District Court is now scheduled to appear before Associate District Judge Kyle Waters for an October 4 felony disposition docket.
A man charged with two counts of lewd molestation in Sequoyah County District Court is now scheduled to appear before Associate District Judge Kyle Waters for an October 4 felony disposition docket.
Nathan R. Horn, 33, was formally charged on March 10. He received a $50,000 bond on August 2 and was arraigned before Judge Waters on Aug. 30, according to court records.
Sallisaw Police Detective Andrew Edwards reported on Jan. 12 that he met with a forensic interviewer at the Child Advocacy Center in Sallisaw while the forensic interviewer was performing an interview with the alleged victim, regarding allegations made against Horn by the alleged victim and the alleged victim’s mother.
During the interview, the alleged victim told authorities they were allegedly raped by Horn from the time they were 10 to 11-years-old, with one of the alleged incidents first occurring at an apartment complex in Sallisaw.
The alleged victim said during one incident, Horn laid down in the floor with the alleged victim and allegedly began touching them inappropriately, trying to remove articles of their clothing, according to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case.
The alleged victim said they pushed away from Horn several times and when he was unsuccessful in removing the alleged victim’s clothing, he became flustered and reportedly left the room.
In a separate incident, the alleged victim said they were watching movies with their mother and Horn in Horn’s bedroom when her mother got up to take a shower. The alleged victim said Horn then allegedly began touching them inappropriately once again until the mother got out of the shower.
Following the interview, Edwards spoke with the victim’s mother separately, asking her where the alleged sexual abuse took place. The mother claimed the alleged incidents reportedly occurred at Applegate Cove, just south of Sallisaw, and another happened in Van Buren, Ark., according to the affidavit.
The affidavit also stated that Horn told the alleged victim that if they told anyone about the alleged sexual abuse, he would kill family members of the victim’s.
District Attorney Jack Thorp said if found guilty of the crime, each charge is punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for not less than 25 years.
