ORU women’s golf team wins MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Three Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles women’s golf team members finished in the top 10 as the Golden Eagles claimed the team championship Tuesday afternoon at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial at Twin Oaks Country Club.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Three Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles women’s golf team members finished in the top 10 as the Golden Eagles claimed the team championship Tuesday afternoon at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial at Twin Oaks Country Club.
The Golden Eagles claimed the team championship at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial for the second time in three years Tuesday. ORU won by eight strokes after out-playing Austin Peay. As a team, ORU had three in the top 10 and finished with a 868 (+4) score.
Cristina Riu ended round two tied for 22nd and shot a 69 (3-under par) in round three to finish tied for seventh. Her round three score ties her career low (69). She shot six birdies in the final round and had 12 in the tournament.
Newcomer Avery Blake is also finished tied for seventh with a 216 (even par) score. Blake moved up one spot after her 72 (even par) round three finish. She shot a 70 (two-under par) in round two. She had 11 birdies in the tournament with two coming on par three’s in the final round.
Lydia Swan closed out the tournament with a 217 (one-over par) score to be tied for ninth. She shot 11 birdies in the tournament with six coming in round two where she did not hit a bogey. In round two, she hit a career low 66 and was the third individual lowest round score in ORU history.
The 868 team score is the third lowest team threeround tournament score in program history.
