LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

In support of Moms for Liberty

In response to the ‘Moms for Liberty’ letter

In response to the Moms for Liberty letter

Dear Editor,

What is controversial about parents interested in their children’s education? Mom’s for Liberty, who recently visited Sallisaw, was started by two moms during COVID over their concern of the masking policy as it affected their children. As a grandmother, that was precisely my concern at exactly the same time.

Once involved, these mothers took notice of the curriculum, what was being taught at schools on race theory, called critical race theory, or CRT. They took notice of inappropriate, perverted subject material in school libraries. This was their right. These are their own children they wish to protect.

The movement turned into a grassroots movement across the United States, as other parents began close inspection at their children’s schools. There was substantial pushback, enough so that their slogan has become, “We do not co-parent with the government.” Good for them.

Every teacher with whom I visit, attributes a majority of classroom challenges to broken families and uninvolved parents. This is a healthy turn of events when parents redirect their interests to focus on their children.

That this movement appears threatening as they flush pornography from school libraries and disagree over the nonsensical notion of gender fluidity and K thru 4 teaching disruptive to their healthy development, is all the more reason to exercise parental control over your children’s education and mentors. It is all the more reason to get involved and become informed here in this county and state.

The teaching of reading, writing and arithmetic is the foremost job for schools. Test scores indicate so much improvement is needed, and the cultural Marxism teachings in some public schools is eroding children’s future potential in life. There is really NO TIME for indoctrination unless there’s another agenda at play-and therein lies the problem.

MARY ANN COSNER, GANS

Happy to endorse Moms for Liberty

Dear Editor,

On August 24, the Sequoyah County Republican party was honored to host Janice Danforth of Moms for Liberty. This group simply desires to protect our young people from the dangers of Marxism, pornography and perversion. They want to defend liberty and the rights of parents.

There was an accusation that Senator Warren Hamilton asked some visitors to leave. This accusation is true. The reason he asked them to leave is that they were disruptive and disrespectful.

It has also been stated that this group is labeled by some as an anti-government, extremist organization by several sources. It is to be observed that indeed some sources portray this. However, the only sources that make this judgement are the socialists, the Marxists, and the perverts that want to corrupt our children.

It has also been claimed that Moms for Liberty wants to marginalize certain groups. The only groups that they want to marginalize are the Marxist agitators, and the perverts that want to groom our children with pornography, and with favorable depictions of debauchery.

There are some people who may not highly regard the advice of church leaders in analyzing the value of this group. I beg to differ. Church leaders are some of the best people I know anywhere. I will continue to highly regard the counsel of godly church leadership.

Moms for Liberty is a wonderful, wholesome group that I am happy to support and endorse.

REPRESENTATIVE JIM OLSEN
