Tulsa golfer finishes 2nd, Golden Hurricane places 5th as a team at Sam Golden Invitational
CORINTH, Texas — Tulsa newcomer Allyn Stephens, playing as an individual in her first tournament with the Golden Hurricane, finished in a second-place tie at the 54-hole Sam Golden Invitational on Tuesday.
CORINTH, Texas — Tulsa newcomer Allyn Stephens, playing as an individual in her first tournament with the Golden Hurricane, finished in a second-place tie at the 54-hole Sam Golden Invitational on Tuesday.
Stephens, a freshman transfer from Texas A&M, scored a 12-under par 204 after Tuesday’s final 3-under par round of 69 at the par-72 Oakmont Country Club.
As a team the Golden Hurricane finished with a final round 284 for a 20-under par total score of 844. Houston claimed the team title with a 48-under par 816 total, followed by North Texas (-35), Texas-San Antonio (-27), Missouri (-21) and Tulsa and Nebraska (-20).
Senior Lilly Thomas placed 13th overall with a 7-under par 209 total after today’s 1-under par 71. Sophomore Grace Kilcrease also placed among the top-20 with a 5-under par 211 following an even-par 72 in final round action.
Junior Sydney Seigel placed 32nd at 2-under par 214, while fellow junior Lovisa Gunnar and sophomore Jenni Roller each carded a final even-par score of 216. Roller shot a 2-under par 70 Tuesday, while Gunner closed out the tournament with a final round 77.
Tulsa freshman Norah Seidl, also playing as an individual, finished with a score of 71 and turned in a 42nd place score of 1-over par 217.
Tulsa will be back in action Sept. 23-25 at the Oklahoma Schooner Fall Classic.
