2 Sallisaw runners make top 15 at Sequoyah Lamont Frazier Invitational

Lady Diamonds JH team 3rd; Gore boys 1st, Lady Pirates 4th in elementary school division

TAHLEQUAH — Two Sallisaw High School cross country runners placed in the top 15 at the 25th annual Sequoyah Lamont Frazier Invitational on Saturday.

TAHLEQUAH — Two Sallisaw High School cross country runners placed in the top 15 at the 25th annual Sequoyah Lamont Frazier Invitational on Saturday.

In the high school girls’ division, Sallisaw’s Molly Carver was ninth (14:32.18), while Jodai Sama Salinas was 11th (19:05.64) in the high school boys race.

The Black Diamonds as a team finished sixth with 121 points, finishing behind team champion Anardarko Riverside (22 points), meet host Sequoyah-Tahlequah (50), Cookson Hills (96), Colord (104) and Locust Grove (108).

After Salinas, Jonas Reid was 24th (20:58.9), Dawson Glover was 27th (21:20.73), Cash Mayfield was 36th (22:31.15) and Ethan Wilhite was 49th (26:16.67).

In the high school girls’ division, Sallisaw had just four runners. after Carver, Nicci Davis was 28th (16:07.96), Haley Birdtail was 35th (16:33.28) and Jazmyne Wright was 39th (17:37.85).

The Lady Diamonds were third in the team standings in the junior high girls’ division with 74 points, finishing behind team champion Colcord (23 points) and Woodall (32).

Emma Coury was Sallisaw’s highest finisher as she was 16th (13:15.65), followed by Daisy Reid in 18th place (14:07.18), Molli Blount in 20th place (14:36.98), Haley Callahan in 24th place (15:02.67) and Natalie Flute in 25th place (15:05.75).

Sallisaw’s Jack Caughman was 19th (18:05.85) in the junior high boys race.

Gore’s elementary school runners dominated the two lowest divisions of competition.

The Pirates won the team title in the elementary school boys’ race with 27 points , just edging runner-up Maryetta (29 points).

Two Pirates made the top 10 as Cale Cox was seventh (6:42.21), while Quinn Montgomery was 10th (6:44.23).

Kaden Elam was 14th (6:59.68), Eli Montgomery was 15th (7:00.81), Tripp Smith was 17th (7:12.26), Ian Munson was 19th (7:25.32), Gus Smith was 25th (7:53.76), Lane Harwood was 26th (7:59.49), Thorn Cearley was 31st (8:44.09) and Jett Ward was 32nd (8:54.99).

Sallisaw’s Jace Singleton was 16th (7:09.18) in the elementary school boys race The Lady Pirates finished in fourth place in the team standings in the elementary school girls race with 61 points, finishing behind team champion Woodall (46 points), Maryetta (56) and Jay (57).

Three Lady Pirates made the top 10 as Annika Pruitt was third (7:06.01), Taylor Kinion was sixth (7:13.53) and Ashlynn Munson was ninth (7:16.87).

Kimberlynn Quick was 26th (8:02.7), Karsyn Springer was 28th (8:03.48), Dakota Wolf was 29th (8:15.87), Elle Keathley was 35th (9:00.24), River Johnson was 38th (9:09.87), Alivia Munson was 44th (9:25.89) and Blakely Smith was 46th (9:50.32).
