Vian Lady Wolverines get home win over Gore Lady Pirates

The Vian Lady Wolverines bounced back from their home loss last Wednesday to Henryetta by getting a 10-2 home win over the Gore Lady Pirates on Thursday afternoon at Armstrong Park.

The Vian Lady Wolverines bounced back from their home loss last Wednesday to Henryetta by getting a 10-2 home win over the Gore Lady Pirates on Thursday afternoon at Armstrong Park.

The Lady Wolverines (20-7) broke a 1-all tie with a seven-run third inning and a single run in the fourth inning to take a 9-1 lead after four innings.

Foe the game, Maisie Wells was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored, Hanna Mattingly was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored and Kala Gibbins was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI for Vian.

Gibbins (18-6) got the win, striking out 11 batters in five innings and scattering five hits.

In defeat, Cadi Shoemake doubled with an RBI, Emily Daily singled and scored Gore’s lone run and Sophie O’Connor, Natalie Casteel and Kynley Webb all singled for the Lady Pirates (916). Cheyenne Davidson took the loss, despite fanning three batters in 4.2 innings.

WEBBERS FALLS 13, GANS 3

Monday in Webbers Falls, the Lady Warriors (2-12) snapped an 11-game losing streak with the home victory.

Trailing 1-0 in the first inning, the Lady Warriors scored five runs in their half of the frame to take the lead for good at 5-1. A six-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Taralynn Colston was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Bridgette Baer was 2-for-2 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs, Ricki Frazier doubled with three RBIs and two runs scored and Savannah Frazier doubled with two RBIs for Webbers Falls.

Maddie Raskey got the win, striking out two batters in three innings and throwing a two-hitter.

In defeat, Brianna Burris tripled and scored twice and Stevie Pratt singled with an RBI for the Lady Grizzlies (114). Burris (1-11) took the loss, getting a strikeout in 2.2 innings.

CENTRAL 17, HEAVENER 12

Monday at Central High School, the Lady Tigers (8-22) broke a 12-all tie with a five-run sixth inning for the win.

For the game, Avery Warner was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, Allie Harris was 2-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored, Melanie Caughman was 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored, Cheyenne Busch was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Rylee Rowland doubled with three runs scored and an RBI.

Ayrland Jiles got the win, fanning 11 batters in seven innings.

STIGLER 16, MULDROW 1

Monday in Muldrow, the Lady Panthers broke a scoreless tie with an eight-run fifth inning for an 8-0 lead. Another eight-run inning in the sixth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Danica Tune, Ashley Price, Jaydin Dean, Amarie Duran, Annalyse Sutton and Kaira Qualls all singled for the Lady Bulldogs (9-14 overall, 1-8 in district play).

Dean took the loss, despite striking out three batters in 5.1 innings. Amaya Duran got the last two outs.

EUFAULA 9, VIAN 1

Monday in Eufaula, after Hanna Mattingly’s RBI double that scored Maisie Wells for a 1-0 lead for the Lady Wolverines, the Lady Ironheads scored three runs in the first inning and four runs in the second inning for a 7-1 lead after two innings. A two-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Mattingly was 2-for-2 with an RBI double, Wells doubled and scored once and Halli Russell singled for Vian. Gibbins suffered the loss, despite recording four strikeouts in four innings.

PANAMA 5, ROLAND 1

Monday in Panama, the Lady Razorbacks scored three runs in the first inning and single runs in the fourth and sixth innings for a 5-0 lead.

The lone run for the Lady Rangers (9-18) scored in the seventh inning on Aubriana Gragg’s steal of home in the seventh inning.

In defeat, Sara Qualls, Jaydence Bean and Lilly Cole each singled for the only hits for Roland. Emily Daws (7-12) took the loss, getting a strikeout in six innings.

CHECOTAH 8, GORE 1

Monday in Gore, the Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning.

The lone run for the Lady Pirates scored in the first inning on Cadi Shoemake’s RBI single that scored Kendra Huckbay, which was Gore’s lone hit.

CENTRAL 15, WEBBERS FALLS 3

PORUM 6, CENTRAL 4

PORUM 16, WEBBERS FALLS 3

Thursday in Porum, the Lady Tigers went 1-1 on the day, while the Lady Warriors (1-12) lost both their games.

In Central’s win over Webbers Falls, the Lady Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Central error that allowed Taralynn Colston and Bridgette Baer to score for a 2-0 lead.

However, from there, it was all Lady Tigers as they scored once in the first inning and six runs in the second inning for a 7-2 lead after two innings. An eight-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Avery Warner was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI, Ayrland Jiles was 2-for-2 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored, Kallie Henning was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, Rylee Rowland was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored, Brianna Taylor doubled with two RBIs and a run scored and Allie Harris tripled with two RBIs for Central. Jiles got the win, striking out three batters in three innings and throwing a two-hitter.

In defeat, Bentley Ward and Lextyn Chappell each singled, while Baer scored twice and Colston once for Webbers Falls. Maddie Raskey took the loss, although she had a strikeout in 2.2 innings.

In Central’s loss to Porum, the Lady Panthers broke a 3-all tie with a single run in the third inning and a two-run fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead after four innings.

In defeat, Jiles was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Henning was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, Alyvia Warner was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Keeley Poindexter was 2-for-2, Taylor was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Rowland was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jiles took the loss, despite fanning eight batters in four innings.

In Webbers Falls’ loss to Porum, the Lady Warriors, just like against Central, took a 2-0 lead on a Porum error that allowed Colston and Baer to score.

However, from there, it was all Porum as the Lady Panthers scored 10 runs in the second inning for a 10-2 lead after two innings. A six-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Raskey and Karla Bonilla each singled for Webbers Falls, while Baer scored twice and Colston once for Webbers Falls. Raskey took the loss, but she did record a strikeout in 2.1 innings.
