District play beginning tonight for 11-man football teams
As I call it, the “real season” has now come upon the six 11-man football teams in the county as they will begin their respective district portion of their seasons tonight.

The Sallisaw Black Diamonds will look to win their first District 4A-4 game in almost two years to the day when they travel to meet the Ada Cougars tonight at East Central University in Ada.
In District 3A-3, the Muldrow Bulldogs will look to snap a two-game losing streak and open district play 1-0 when they hit the road tonight to meet the Checotah Wildcats at Checotah’s Ogle Field.
Our local District 2A-5 teams, the Vian Wolverines and the Roland Rangers, will open district play tonight. The Wolverines will entertain the Warner Eagles at St. John Stadium, while the Rangers travel to meet the Keys (Park Hill) Cougars.
The Gore Pirates and the Central Tigers will begin District A-8 play tonight. The Pirates will welcome the Talihina Golden Tigers to K.G. Horn Stadium as the Golden Tigers are returning to varsity football for the first time in two years. The Tigers will travel to meet the Haskell Haymakers.
Our two local 8-man football teams, the Gans Grizzlies and the Webbers Falls Warriors will have to wait until Oct. 6 to begin district play in Districts B-6 and B-5, respectively.
