DEWAR — The 2023 fast-pitch softball season came to an end for the Gore Lady Pirates on Tuesday afternoon as they were swept by the host Dewar Lady Dragons by scores of 17-1 and 12-2 in the Class A District Tournament.

The Lady Pirates finish the season at 9-18.

In the opener, the Lady Dragons (26-4), who will advance to next week’s Class A Super Regionals with the sweep, put away the game away with a 13-run first inning.

The Lady Pirates were no-hit by Dewar’s pitching duo of Brooke and Raygin Thomas. Brooke Thomas got the win, going the first two innings with three strikeouts, while Raygin Thomas went the final inning with a strikeout.

Cheyenne Davidson took the loss as she got a strikeout in two innings.

In the nightcap, the Lady Dragons scored twice in the first inning and five runs in the second inning for a 7-0 lead after two innings.

The first run of the entire day for Gore scored in the top of the third inning on Paige Curran’s RBI double to cut the deficit to 7-1.

After Dewar scored three runs in its half of the inning for a 10-1 lead, Gore scored its final run in the fourth inning on Emily Daily’s sacrifice fly to make it 10-2, but that was as close as the Lady Pirates got.

The Lady Dragons scored twice in their half of the fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Kynley Webb was 2-for-2, Curran hit an RBI double, Daily singled, hit an RBI sacrifice fly and scored once and River Shoemake singled for Gore. Davidson took the loss.
