Sallisaw-Muldrow game suspended by rain, slated to resume Thursday

The Sallisaw Lady Diamonds and the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs were slated to have to finished Tuesday’s district game in Muldrow on Thursday.

MULDROW — The Sallisaw Lady Diamonds and the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs were slated to finish Tuesday’s district game in Muldrow on Thursday.

With the score 5-1 in favor of Muldrow, the game was suspended in the fourth inning with the Lady Bulldogs getting ready to come to bat.

Muldrow coach Luke Folkerts said that after Wednesday afternoon’s attempt to finish the game was unsuccessful that an attempt was going to be made Thursday afternoon before the Lady Diamonds headed to their road district game at Stigler.

With the game tied at 1, the Lady Bulldogs broke the tie wit a two-run third inning on Kaydence Young’s two-run double, scoring Danica Tune and Ashley Price, and Amarie Duran’s two-RBI double, scoring Young and Jaydin Dean, for a 5-1 lead for Muldrow as it came to bat in the fourth inning when the game was suspended by rain.

The Lady Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead on Young’s sacrifice fly, scoring Tune, in the first inning.

The Lady Diamonds tied the game at 1 on Emma Lessley’s sacrifice fly, scoring Channing Wilson, in the second inning.

MULDROW 6, CHECOTAH 5, 8 INN.

Wednesday in Muldrow, the Lady Bulldogs (10-14 overall, 2-8 in district play) broke a 5-all tie on Kaydence Young’s two-out, eighth-inning, walk-off single after Muldrow rallied from a 5-0 deficit with a two-run fifth inning, a single run in the sixth inning and a two-run seventh inning to get the game tied at 5-all after seven innings.

For the game, Young was 3-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, Ashley Price was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Amaya Duran was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Danica Tune tripled, scored twice and had an RBI.

Jaydin Dean got the win, getting six strikeouts in eight innings.
