Blue Line Event is set for Saturday

House said the event will feature vendors, live entertainment, food, inflatable houses for kids, silent auctions and fun for all ages. “There’s going to be a lot going on,” House said.
Blue Line Unlimited, which began in 2016, provides assistance to law enforcement and first responders and their families in the way of benefits, training, education and equipment.
House also informed the commissioners he and Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane will be attending the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) border school conference in McAllen, Texas, on Thursday.
“This will give us a better understanding of what’s taking place at the border and how the process works in dealing with what’s coming in and living in our county,” House said.
House also said a meeting is planned on Oct. 9 with DHS officials to help address problems of mental health and hiring qualified people to deal with mental health issues pertaining to jail inmates.
Sequoyah County Dist. 3 Commissioner Jim Rogers announced the annual Firefighters Appreciation Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 23, at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds.
The dinner, which includes door prizes and special awards, is held annually to honor all rural volunteer firefighters. More details about the event will be published as they become available.
In other business, the commissioners approved a lease purchase of a 2023 Cat 140 GC Grader on Sourcewell from Warren Cat for Sequoyah County District 2.
Commissioners also approved the following:
• To appoint Jonathan Teague as the requisitioning agent for Sequoyah County Emergency Management
• Transfer of appropriations from District 3 maintenance and operations to District 3 Capital Outlay
• Appoint Julia McGhee and Kelly Martin as requisitioning officers for the Sequoyah County Health Department
• Appoint Christina Gaytan and Jennifer Wiley as receiving officers for the Sequoyah County Health Department
• Blanket purchase orders
