Women golfers finish 4th in Johnie Imes Invitational

After all three rounds, ORU finished with an 871 (7-over) score, ORU claimed fourth and moved up a spot from fifth after round two. Collectively, the Golden Eagles had 13 birdies on the day, totaling 36 for the tournament, and finished a stroke behind Florida International for third and 11 strokes behind team champion Lipscomb.
Cristina Riu ended the tournament in the top 10 finishing tied for 10th. Riu shot a 75 (3-over) that included three birdies in round three giving her nine for the tournament. She had all three round three birdies on the front nine. Altogether, she ended with a total score of 217 (1-over) and eight strokes off the lead.
Avery Blake had her best round on Wednesday with a 70 (2-under). She birdied four holes on the back nine, giving her a 218 (2-over) score for the tournament.
Lydia Swan did not finish far behind Blake as she ended the third round with her best score of 71 (1-under) shooting two strokes better than Tuesday and giving her a three-round score 220 (4-over).
The Golden Eagles will participate in their next tournament on Monday at the Marilynn Smith Invitational put on by Kansas State University at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kan.
