Looking for a job with the Cherokee Nation? Cherokee Nation Human Resources will be conducting open job interviews from 10 a.m. to noon at Will Rogers Health Center, 1020 Lenape Drive, in Nowata, Okla. “Tiny Beautiful Things”: The Sequoyah High School Drama Department will be performing its one-act play from 7 to 8 p.m. at The Place Where They Play gymnasium in Tahlequah. Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. The students will be performing this play, based on a book by acclaimed author Cheryl Strayed, as a preview for their performance at the upcoming OSSAA Regional One Act Competition. “Dan Mink: Cherokee by Design”: This is the last day to see, explore and experience this very special exhibit about Cherokee National Treasure Dan Mink at the Saline Courthouse Museum in Rose, Okla. Mink uses the imagery of his Cherokee ancestors to develop a visual identity for today’s Cherokee Nation. Best known for the striking motifs he creates for the annual Cherokee National Holiday, Dan also designed the insignias for key Cherokee Nation initiatives and legislation along with other iconography celebrating Cherokee history, culture and community. Admission to the museum is free and is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Saline Courthouse Museum is located at 55870 S. 490 Road in Rose. Indigenous Peoples’ Day: Cherokee Nation’s W.W. Keeler Tribal Complex, satellite offices and health centers will be closed to observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Cherokee Nation W.W. Hastings Hospital urgent care and emergency department and other emergency services will remain open. Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. is scheduled to speak at Tulsa’s Native American Day at 10 a.m. Learn more at www.facebook.com/TulsaNativeAmericanDay.

All first language and fluent Cherokee speakers are invited to a special language event at the Durbin Feeling Language Center, 16489 Hwy 62 South, in Tahlequah. This gathering will begin at 10 a.m. and a free traditional meal will be served at noon. For more information, call 918-207-4901 or email language@cherokee.org.

Cherokee Nation Public Health will be hosting a traditional community event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Mid County Community Building, 75371 Hwy 59, in Westville, Okla. Attendees will be able to participate in a makeand- take basket demonstration, create cornhusk dolls, and take part in a traditional foods taste test. There will also be a remembrance walk. Community walking and running group: Join this group, led by Cherokee Nation Public Health Educator Kindle Spry, every Tuesday and Thursday now through Nov. 30. Participants will meet at the bottom parking lot at the Clinic In The Woods, 1325 E. Boone St., in Tahlequah. Go at your own pace and encourage better health for one another. “Nanyehi: Beloved Woman of the Cherokee”: This musical, which follows Cherokee warrior and peacemaker Nancy Ward through her extraordinary life, is coming to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa for two nights on Oct. 13 and 14. It is written by Nashville-based, award-winning songwriter Becky Hobbs and playwright Nick Sweet. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. Cherokee Art Market: Collect the newest works from renowned Native artists. This special art show, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa through Oct. 15. Sequoyah High School will be hosting a chess tournament that is open to all K-12 players throughout the Cherokee Nation reservation. The Sequoyah K-12 Open will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Place Where They Play gymnasium at Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah. Entry into the tournament will cost $25/player and a current U.S. Chess Federation membership. For 3+ siblings, entry will be $20/player and current USCF membership for each player. Nowata 5K & Fun Run: Join the Cherokee Nation Wings Program for this 5K race beginning at 8 a.m. at Nowata City Hall, 114 S. Maple St. in Nowata, Okla. The race is free to members of the Wings Program, but is also open to non-members for a fee. There will also be a 1K fun run beginning at 8:05 a.m. Shirts will be handed out after the race while suppliest last. Cherokee Nation is hosting a gathering in Fullerton, California, for atlarge Cherokee citizens who live in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Come out and visit with Cherokee Nation leaders and take part in cultural activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ted Craig Regional Park, 3300 State College Blvd., in Fullerton. Tribal Registration will be on site for photo IDs and citizenship applications. Education Services and Cherokee Vote will also be in attendance to assist citizens. Lunch will be provided. Sequoyah’s Cabin Museum in Sallisaw will be hosting a Fall Harvest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.! Enjoy traditional games and watch Cherokee artisans demonstrate their craft. Many of these artists will also have their art available for purchase. Kids will be able to pick out and decorate their favorite pumpkin from a pumpkin patch. And be sure to visit the Fall Harvest photo op area to take fun photos with your friends and family.

“Jane Osti: A Legacy of Her Own”: This is the last day to see this very special exhibit about Cherokee National Treasure Jane Osti at the Anna Mitchell Cultural & Welcome Center in Vinita. One of the most awarded living Cherokee potters, Osti has led a distinguished career as an artist embracing Cherokee traditional pottery and its proliferation. This exhibit looks at her life, work and the artist who guided Osti through her expression of Indigenous Southeastern forms in clay — Anna Mitchell. Through her relationship with the Cherokee pottery revivalist, Osti found inspiration to create stunning, in-demand works of art that have brought her renown. More than two dozen pieces will be on display, including works available to the public for purchase.
