Brushy, Moffett softball teams compete at ORES state tournament
SHAWNEE — Both the Brushy Lady Mountaineers and the Moffett Lady Wildcats represented Sequoyah County at the 2023 Organization of Rural Elementary Schools (ORES) Division II State Softball Tournament, which took place Sept. 22 at The Ballfields at Firelake.
SHAWNEE — Both the Brushy Lady Mountaineers and the Moffett Lady Wildcats represented Sequoyah County at the 2023 Organization of Rural Elementary Schools (ORES) Division II State Softball Tournament, which took place Sept. 22 at The Ballfields at Firelake.
The Lady Mountaineers went 2-3 on the day. In pool play action, Brushy edged Lane 10-9 and Zanies 5-4, but lost 12-0 to Middleburg.
In the main draw of the tournament, the Lady Mountaineers lost 10-0 to Holly Creek and 11-3 to Pretty Water.
The Lady ’Cats went undefeated in pool play games, posting a 3-1 win over Anderson, an 8-5 victory over Pleasant Grove and a 15-0 rout of Jennings.
However, in the main draw of the state tournament, Moffett lost 9-0 to Middleburg and 7-2 to Hodgen.
