GRIDIRON NOTES

Local 8-man football teams begin district play tonight

It took until October, but now all our local football teams can claim they will be in a district game.

It took until October, but now all our local football teams can claim they will be in a district game.

After the six local 11-man teams began their respective district play on Sept. 22, the two local 8-man teams — the Gans Grizzlies and the Webbers Falls Warriors — will join them as both teams’ district openers are tonight. Gans will entertain Welch in District B-6, while Webbers Falls will visit Dewar in District B-5.

Now, all eight teams’ games from here on will be their most important of the 2023 season. Playoff positions will be at stake, and teams will not only be seeking a playoff spot but also seeking district titles.

We’ll see how the last month of the regular season plays out.
