The Oral Roberts University women’s soccer team had a 2-0 road trip as the Golden Eagles got a 2-1 win Thursday night against Nebraska-Omaha, then capped things with a 5-2 victory over Missouri-Kansas City.

In the win over UMKC, five different Golden Eagles (4-4-3 overall, 2-1-0 in Summit League action) scored during the match, giving ORU its highest goals scored in a match since August 2022.

Jordan Grigsby kicked off the scoring at the four minute mark when she knocked in the corner kick delivery from Samantha Guzman.

Fourteen minutes later, Kristi Keller found Julia Thasaphong who struck the delivery into the high center of the goal.

UMKC broke free at the 26th minute as Brianna Castleberry put the Kangaroos on the board.

Two minutes later, the Golden Eagles responded with their third score of the half. Carty Kingsbury gathered a loose ball outside the box, shot, and laced the back of the net.

ORU went into the break with a commanding 3-1 lead.

Seven minutes into the second half, Jordyn Blackburn played a perfect cross from the right side of the field that went past the defense and found Samantha See for the goal.

Brianna Castleberry scored her second goal of the night at the 60-minute mark, making it 4-2 ORU.

The Golden Eagles would strike one more time as Grigsby found Keller at the 81st minute.

In the victory over Nebraska-Omaha, the Golden Eagles played with an edge from the opening whistle and channeled that energy into a steady offensive pressure throughout the game.

Kingsbury opened the scoring for ORU in the 41st minute. Kingsbury launched a rocket from outside the box that went past the goalkeeper’s outstretched hands and laced the back of the net for her second score of the year. Carys Torgesen and Guzman earned an assist on the goal.

The Golden Eagles held their 1-0 lead for the remainder of the half.

At the 62nd minute, ORU would score again to increase its lead to two. Ariana Fresquez lofted a corner kick into the middle of the box that found Gabrielle Abbey who knocked it in. This notched Abbey’s fourth goal of the season.

Nebraska-Omaha wouldn’t go away. In the 82nd minute, Marissa Gohr capitalized off of a free kick as she got behind the defense and cut the lead in half.

ORU remained poised and held off the Mavericks for the rest of the match.

ORU were slated to return to the field as they took on North Dakota State on Thursday night at the Case Soccer Complex.
