Former Muldrow QB throws for 421 yards, 4 TDs to lead Emporia State past Washburn
EMPORIA, Kan. — Former Muldrow quarterback Braden Gleason was 42-of-49 for 421 yards with four touchdowns and the Hornet defense had five sacks as the 25th-ranked Emporia State Hornets defeated Washburn 38-23 in the 119th edition of the Turnpike Tussle on Saturday afternoon in Welch Stadium. It was Gleason’s second 400-yard passing game of the season, and his pe r formance earned him his second MIAA C o n f e r e n c e Offensive Player of the Week.

It was Gleason’s second 400-yard passing game of the season, and his performance earned him his second MIAA Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Three of the four first-half TDs were off the arm of Gleason, who hit Tyler Kahmann on a 39-yard pass in the first quarter and a 32-yard pass to Tommy Zimmerman and a one-yard pass to Jaylen Varner in the second quarter as the Hornets (5-2 overall, 4-2 in MIAA Conference play) had a 28-10 halftime lead.
Gleason’s final touchdown pass came in the final period on a 15-yard TD pass to Kahmann.
Former Muldrow Bulldog Trenden Collins had four catches for 20 yards in Saturday’s win.
