No. 23 ORU men’s soccer team blanks UMKC
TULSA — The No. 23 ranked Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team won its 11th straight home match after beating Missouri-Kansas City 2-0 on Saturday evening at the Case Soccer Complex.
TULSA — The No. 23 ranked Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team won its 11th straight home match after beating Missouri-Kansas City 2-0 on Saturday evening at the Case Soccer Complex.
In the 21st minute, Baptiste Boit gathered the ball on the right side of the goal and sent it back to Brandon O’Rourke. O’Rourke then passed the ball Luis Flores to the middle of the penalty area and shot through defenders to the left side of the goal and scored for his 10th goal of the season. Boit and O’Rourke both earned assists on the play.
After a strong punch out clear by Jakub Grzesiak, the ball landed at the feet of Felipe Medina who dribbled the ball up the middle of the field and sent it to the left to Damani Harris. Harris crossed the ball to the middle of the penalty area where he found Flores sprinting in for the header goal in the 33rd minute. It was Flores’ second goal of the night and 11th goal of the season.
After playing a man down the entire second half, the Golden Eagle defense held strong. UMKC managed 12 second half shots with seven being on goal and ORU’s Grzesiak recorded seven saves to not allow a goal by the Roos.
Saturday’s win over UMKC extended ORU’s home game winning streak to 11, going back to last season.
The Golden Eagles will travel to face St. Thomas this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
