HOCKLEY, Texas — The Oklahoma State Cowboys golf team knocked off Houston 3-2 last Wednesday at the Big 12 Match Play Tournament to finish in third place at Houston Oaks.

Sophomore John Wild put the first point on the board for the Cowboys, with a 5-and-3 win over Jacob Borow. Wild had a stretch of four wins in five holes to build a 4-up lead. After six consecutive tied holes, Wild won the first hole to put the match away.

Freshman Preston Stout nearly led from start to finish in his match against Austyn Reily. Stout took the first and held a 1-up lead through 10 holes before Reily tied the match with a win at the 14th. However, Stout regained the lead at the 15th and pushed his margin to two with a win at the first.

Senior Jonas Baumgartner went back and forth with Hudson Weibel. Baumgartner lost the first hole of the match before tying the match two holes later. He took his first lead at the 11th before Weibel tied it again at the 15th and moved in front at the 17th. Baumgartner won the first and second holes before closing out the match by tying the third.

Houston got points from Santiago De La Fuente, who knocked off Johnnie Clark 2 up, and Wolfgang Glawe, who took down Gaven Lane 2 up.

Texas defeated Baylor in the championship match, while Oklahoma won the fifth-place match against Texas Tech.
