SALLISAW TOPS

Members learn how to treat themselves

By Billie Anthony

Eight ladies weighed in this Monday. We had a net loss of 1.3 pounds and Mary had the best weight loss of 2.9 pounds. Our chapter challenge is to call a TOPS sister and encourage her. Our Two Bit Bowl winner was Doris, yay! Our Ladder contest is going great. Brenda is ahead and if she loses weight next week, she will be the winner of the Ladder contest. Good luck Brenda! We have eight ladies on the ladder. Four ribbons are left on the Surprise Box. All the ladies did a great job this week and those that gained had small gains. We celebrated with two of our ladies today. Brenda received certificates and charms for her bracelet by losing six weeks in a row, highest quarterly weight loss and she has lost 5% of her weight since joining TOPS. Mary was our other example receiving a certificate for 5% of her weight lost and also being the other best weight loss for the quarter.

We all signed the Oklahoma card to be sent in to headquarters for 75 years of TOPS CLUB INC., founded by Mrs. Esther Manz.

Our program today was titled “TOPS 10 Ways to Treat yourself without the Treats.” This program was taken from the TOPS web page. When you feel accomplished –whether you’ve completed a hard workout or just got through the holidays—it’s often tempting to treat yourself with candy, baked goods, greasy eats or other food-related rewards. But there are other healthier ways to spoil yourself. Here are 10 ways to “treat” yourself or others for a job well done, minus the snacking! (1) crochet a blanket for yourself or a friend; (2)find new reading material at a used bookstore; (3) sign up for an interesting adult program at the local library; (4)paint rocks and leave them in a public place for others to find!; (5)fold pieces of paper and cut them into decorative snowflake shapes; (6)buy an inexpensive water coloring kit. You can paint your own masterpiece.; (7) reuse old tea tins by turning them into festive candleholders.; (8) spend time with an entertaining crossword puzzle or word search.; (9)bundle up in warm clothes and take photos of the great outdoors!; (10)relax and be grateful with prayer or meditation.

We closed our meeting with the TOPS Pledge.

EVERYONE is invited to visit. The FIRST VISIT is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:30am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:30am and the meeting starts at 11am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918/413-1383. We look forward to meeting you.
