By BEN GREIDER OKSTATE.COM

SAN MARCOS, Texas — The Oklahoma State Cowgirls golf team saved its best fall round for last, posting a round three score of 15-under 273 to finish fifth at the Jim West Challenge.

SAN MARCOS, Texas — The Oklahoma State Cowgirls golf team saved its best fall round for last, posting a round three score of 15-under 273 to finish fifth at the Jim West Challenge.

The Cowgirls were the biggest riser on Monday, jumping four teams to finish with a 54-hole score of 18-under 846. Entering the day in a three-way tie for first, Southern Methodist University took home the Jim West Challenge with an overall 38-under 826 performance, highlighted by a 23-under round-three score.

Angelica Pfefferkorn had a career round on Monday, churning out her first 60s round as a Cowgirl with a 6-under 66. Pfefferkorn’s play tied her for the eighth-best round-three score in the field and surged her to a tie for 45th overall.

Pfefferkorn made the most of the fall season. After only playing three tournament rounds in her first three years with the Cowgirls, the senior started in three fall tournaments while competing individually at the Illini Women’s Invitational.

Clemence Martin led the Cowgirls in San Marcos, placing 13th with a score of 8-under 71-67-70. Highlighted by a bogey-free round two, Martin led the Cowgirls with 14 birdies, while finishing second on the team in pars.

Martin’s fall closer marked her best individual finish of the fall.

Marta Silchenko finished tied for 24th, concluding round-three action at 2-under 70. Across 54 holes, Silchenko racked up a baker’s dozen in birdies, recording an eagle on hole No. 18 in round two.

Thitaporn Saithip ended play tied for 31st after finishing 1-under across three rounds. Saithip led the Cowgirls with 36 pars while also cashing in 10 birdies.

In the same hole pairing as Pfefferkorn, Ellie Bushnell also marked her best round as a Cowgirl, closing the fall season with a 5-under 67 round three. Bushnell caught fire in the back nine, riddling off four consecutive birdies from hole Nos. 15-18 before adding an eagle on hole No. 3.

Bushnell co-led the field in eagles in San Marcos, dialing up eagles on hole No. 3 in back-to-back rounds.

OSU concludes its fall season with back-to-back top-five placements. The Cowgirls will return to action Feb. 4 when they tee off their spring season at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
