A Sallisaw man is facing a felony charge of first-degree murder after he reportedly shot and killed another Sallisaw man on Sunday.
Authorities say Perry L. Emmett, 34, has been arrested in the shooting, which reportedly took place around 3 p.m. at Emmett’s residence on Wildhorse Mountain Road following an alleged dispute.
Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane Jr. said deputies responded to the scene where they found 32-year-old Evan Rolston dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Lane said deputies then detained Emmett, who was charged Monday with shooting and killing Rolston.
Lane said because both Emmett and the victim are Native American, investigators with the Federal Bureau of Investigation were contacted regarding the shooting and have taken over the case.
