Golden Eagles beat Central Arkansas

BROKEN ARROW — Luis Flores earned a hat trick in the No. 24th-ranked Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team’s 4-1 win over Central Arkansas on Tuesday evening at Kirkland Soccer Complex.
In the 30th minute, Luis Flores captured his 12th goal of the season with a header to the left side of the net to lift ORU to a 1-0 lead. Flores’ goal was assisted on a pass into the penalty area by Felipe Medina. It goes down as Medina’s third assist of the season.
ORU really opened up the game with three goals all within a 15-minute span. Flores scored his second goal of the night on a penalty kick due to a handball by UCA in the penalty area in the 62nd minute. Flores then recorded a hat trick seven minutes later in the 69th minute to put ORU up 3-0. His goal was assisted by Andrew Nunez.
In the 76th minute, Gabriel Atienza scored his first goal of the season and first in an ORU uniform to put the Golden Eagles up 4-0. Atienza scored off a corner kick that was taken by Brandon O’Rourke. O’Rourke earned the assist, which was his fourth of the season.
Central Arkansas did manage to get on the board in the 78th minute with a goal to the bottom right of the net by Ignacio Bellina to make it a 4-1 match.
ORU will entertain No. 23 Denver at 7 p.m. Saturday for Senior Night at the Case Soccer Complex for a battle for first place in the Summit League.
