HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. — Abbey Schutte from the Arkansas women’s golf team continues to impress, as the freshman finished as the runner up at the Diamante Intercollegiate with a 9-under 207 (70-71-66). Giovanna Fernandez, Schutte and Kendall Todd competed as individuals at the tournament hosted by Little Rock at the Diamante Country Club. This tournament served as a final tuneup for these three, as the 2023 fall season officially comes to a close.

Schutte was on fire for the Oct. 24 event, firing a 6-under 66 behind one eagle, five birdies and just one bogey. Her 66 in the final round moved her up 10 spots on the leaderboard to come in solo possession of second place, three off from the individual medalist. The 66 is also tied for the 12th lowest round in school history, as well as the best round by a Razorback this season. Schutte was under par in all three rounds, logging a 70 on day one behind four birdies and two bogeys, as well as a 71 in the second round with three birdies and two bogeys. The freshman led the tournament in par 3s average with a 2.58 average and tallied 12 birdies and 36 pars throughout the tournament. Schutte’s 54-hole score of 207 is the second best by a Hog this season.

Todd was the next Hog to finish, tying for 14th with a 3-under 213 (72-70-71). On the first day, Todd logged three birdies but three bogeys to finish even and followed that up with a 2-under 70 in the second round after logging three birdies and just one bogey. In the final round, Todd finished strong following back-to-back bogeys at the start of the front nine, as she tallied three birdies and four pars to wrap up the round at under par. This marks Todd’s second top 20 finish of the season, as well as tie for the best 54-hole score in her Arkansas career. Todd had a tie for the third best par 3s average (2.75).

Fernandez finished the tournament with a 3-over 219 (70-74-75), tying for 39th out of 93 golfers. The junior started out the tournament strong with a 2-under 70 behind three birdies, 14 pars and just one bogey, while finishing her last 14 holes of the round bogeyless. Fernandez had a 3-over 75 with four birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys. Her 219 is a season-best score.
