Golden Eagles lose to Denver on Senior Night

TULSA — The No. 24 ranked Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team fell 1-0 on Saturday evening to No. 23 Denver at the Case Soccer Complex on Senior Night.
Denver took the 1-0 lead in the 16th minute on a goal by Bryce Willoughby who punched it in on a cross from two yards out by Holger Olsson. It was Willoughby’s third goal of the season. Despite trailing at halftime, ORU outshot the Pioneers (102-4 overall, 6-0-1 in Summit League play) 13-4 with a 2-1 shot on goal advantage.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles (9-3-3, 4-1-2) controlled the entire 45 minutes, but were unable to get one into the net. ORU outshot Denver 12-0 overall and 6-0 on goal, totaling 25 total shots for the Golden Eagles compared to Denver’s four.
The Golden Eagles will close out the regular season with a trip to face the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks at 2 p.m. Saturday in Omaha, Neb. With a win or tie, ORU can clinch second place in the Summit League.
