LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The 2023 Carl Albert State College men’s wrestling season did not go as hoped as the Vikings were dominated by NCAA Division I’s Arkansas-Little Rock as the Trojans won 48-3.
The lone win for the Vikings (0-1 in duals this season) came at 149 pounds when Jaden Two Lance beat UALR’s Jake Adams 7-1.
Hudgens
CASC sophomore Trey Hudgens from Sallisaw was pinned by UALR’s Triston Willis in their match at 184 pounds. It accidentally stated in the season-preview story in Wednesday’s edition that Hudgens was going to be a heavyweight wrestler for the Vikings, but while he did some competing at that weight level last year, Hudgens will be at 184 this season. The online version of that story has been corrected.
The Vikings continued their season Thursday night with a road dual against Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. Thursday night’s action also was the season opener for the Lady Vikings.
Both the Vikings and Lady Vikings will end the week by participating in the Simpson College Open, which will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday in Indianola, Iowa.
On Tuesday, the CASC wrestling teams will be in road duals against the University of the Ozarks, with the women squaring off at 4 p.m., followed by the men’s dual at 5 p.m.
