A couple of weeks ago, Mrs. Wise introduced her students to the popular weather folklore concerning persimmon seeds. As the folklore goes, the inside of a persimmon seed can give an indication of the conditions of the upcoming winter. Typically, when you cut open a persimmon seed, you are likely to see one of three shapes inside: a fork, knife or spoon. The fork is said to stand for a mild winter; while the knife shape means that there will be frigid winds. The majority of the students opened their seed to see a spoon, which means to expect plenty of snow this winter.
