NORMAN — The Oral Roberts women’s basketball team dropped a road contest to Oklahoma 103-74 Sunday at Lloyd Noble Center.

A career-best performance from Payton Verhulst led No. 23 OU. Verhulst poured in a career-best 32 points on 12-of-15 shooting with six rebounds, six assists and three blocks as OU (3-0) scored 100 points for the sixth time under coach Jennie Baranczyk. The Sooners dished out 30 assists in the win, the most for an OU team in the Big 12 era and opened the season 3-0 for the third consecutive year.

Emily Robinson shined for the second game in a row for the Golden Eagles (1-2) as the freshman guard tallied a team-high 19 points on 7-14 shooting. Robinson notched 16 of her points in the second half alone and tagged on six rebounds, three of which came off the offensive glass.

Golden Eagle veterans Hannah Cooper and Ruthie Udoumoh followed Robinson as they each poured in 11 points of their own. In addition, Udoumoh gathered a game-high nine rebounds and collected three steals, while Cooper tallied a team-best three assists.

OU led 25-20 after one period, 44-32 at halftime and 69-57 after three quarters.

Former Howe Lady Lion Jalei Oglesby scored 10 points for ORU.

The Sooners will return to action at 10:30 this morning against Alabama State at Lloyd Noble Center, while Golden Eagles were slated to play Mid-American Christian University on Tuesday night at the ORU Mabee Center.
