Viking grapplers get win over Ouachita Baptist
The Carl Albert State College Vikings wrestling team got a 26-20 home dual win over Ouachita Baptist last Wednesday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse on the CASCPoteau campus.
POTEAU — The Carl Albert State College Vikings wrestling team got a 26-20 home dual win over Ouachita Baptist last Wednesday night at Mick Thompson Fieldhouse on the CASC-Poteau campus.
The Vikings got a pinfall victory from R.J. Jones at 125 pounds), a 20-4 technical fall win by Matthan Mason at 174 pounds, a 12-3 major decision win by Noah Smith at 165 pounds and decisions by Cooper Evans at 141 pounds (13-7 win) and Hunter Hall at 197 pounds (8-4 win).
Sallisaw 184-pounder Trey Hudgens was pinned in 4:55 by Ouachita Baptist’s Parker Henry.
However, the Vikings did well in exhibition matches as they won five of six matches contested. Eric Hussaini (125 pounds) and Mason Gordon (157) each won by pinball, Cayden Felts won by a 11-1 major decision at 165, Ethan Day won by a 22-4 technical fall at 174 and Josiah Rhodes won by a 9-3 decision at 184.
Sallisaw heavyweight wrestler Ryan Bashant-Honeycutt lost his exhibition match as he was pinned in 4:37 by Ouachita Baptist’s R.J. Hild.
There was no results on CASC’s men’s or women’s dual Friday night at home against Schreiber University or Saturday’s Viking Open or Sunday’s Lady Viking Open by press time.
