GRIDIRON NOTES

Our teams went undefeated in opening round of playoffs; could we have a repeat tonight

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

It was quite a successful opening night of the high school football playoffs last Friday night as all five local teams — the Sallisaw Black Diamonds, Vian Wolverines, Central Tigers, Gore Pirates and Webbers Falls Warriors — all posted opening-round victories.

It was quite a successful opening night of the high school football playoffs last Friday night as all five local teams — the Sallisaw Black Diamonds, Vian Wolverines, Central Tigers, Gore Pirates and Webbers Falls Warriors — all posted opening-round victories.

Could we have a repeat of that feat tonight? We’ll know the answer to that by the end of the night.

This is just a reminder to our football coaches that if we have any early signings next month or signings on National Letter of Intent Signing Day on Feb. 7, please let me know as I will do my best to make it out for the signing ceremony as I did last week for Roland baseball player Carson Wiggins when he signed his baseball national letter of intent with Arkansas.

All I ask is that you let me know no less than 48 hours in advance as to when and where our signee(s) will be inking their “John Hancock,” and I’ll do my best to be present.
