Razorbacks eliminated from NCAA soccer tournament
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — No. 2 seed Arkansas dropped a wild back-and-forth match to No. 7-seed Pittsburgh 4-3 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night. The loss also ended the Hogs’ 32-match home unbeaten streak that dated back to 2021.

The first half featured two goals by each team and two lead changes. After the Panthers opened the scoring in the 18th minute, the Razorbacks followed up with two goals from freshman Bella Field and sophomore Ainsley Erzen to take the lead.
Pitt tied the match with less five minutes left in the half with a goal from Keera Melenhorst.
The Panthers fired off four shots to start the second half before midfielder Bea Franklin and the Hogs retook the lead off a corner kick from Ava Tankersley in the 69th minute.
Arkansas defender Emilee Hauser picked up a yellow card in the 77th minute that set up a dangerous free kick from just outside the penalty box. Panther midfielder Ellie Coffield took the kick right to goal and past goalkeeper Phoebe Carver for the match’s third tie.
Coffield sealed the win for Pitt with less than two minutes to play after she headed in a corner kick from forward Sarah Schupansky.
The Panthers outshot Arkansas 23-16.
