With five Cowgirls scoring in double figures, Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with an 82-51 win over Missouri State in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Sunday afternoon.

The third loss of the three-game losing streak came as the Cowgirls went winless at The Bahamas as they lost 75-57 to No. 15 Ohio State last Wednesday night.

In the win over Missouri State, OSU gets back to .500 with the win, improving to 3-3 on the season and 2-0 at home. The win came in the first of a four-game homestand that will continue at 1 p.m. Sunday against Wyoming.

Anna Gret Asi led the way for OSU, scoring 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting and 6-of-9 from behind the arc. Quincy Noble finished with a season-best 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Lior Garzon and Stailee Heard each had 12. Rylee Langerman posted 10 points and seven rebounds to round out the Cowgirls in double figures.

OSU shot 55.8 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from 3-point range while tying the program record with 15 made 3s on 27 attempts. On the defensive end, the Cowgirls allowed just 18 points in the first half and held the Lady Bears to 28 percent shooting on the game.

In a competitive opening quarter, the teams traded baskets, with Garzon burying a pair of early triples for OSU. Asi closed the quarter with her first three-ball of the game to give the Cowgirls a 15-12 advantage heading to the second period.

OSU would break the game open in the second quarter, going on a 19-0 run over a 5:30 stretch in the period. Asi scored 11 and Noble added eight in the frame as the Cowgirls outscored the Lady Bears 26-6 in the quarter. They also held Missouri State to 2-of-14 shooting and 0-of-4 from 3-point range in the period.

Coming out of the half, OSU led 41-18. OSU extended its lead in the third quarter, getting nine points from Noble and a pair of 3s from Garzon. Going into the final period, the Cowgirls led by 30.

Missouri State scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter, but OSU put together a 13-0 run to seal the win.

Freshmen Mia Galbraith and Brenna Butler made their Cowgirl debuts in the win, scoring two points each. Praise Egharevba made her second start of the season for OSU, pulling down eight rebounds and scoring one point.

In the loss to Ohio State, freshman Heard led OSU with 15 points, her fourth time scoring 15 or more in her first five collegiate games. Noble finished with 12 points and Chandler Prater posted her first double-double as a Cowgirl, pairing 10 points with 11 rebounds.

The Buckeyes opened the game on an 18-2 run, with Heard being responsible for the only Cowgirl points in that stretch. Prater would add six points and Noble buried a 3-pointer as Oklahoma State closed the gap to 24-13 to close the first quarter.

Oklahoma State found a rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring Ohio State 1712 in the period. Four Cowgirls had four points each in the quarter while holding the Buckeyes to 5-of-17 shooting and 1-of-9 from 3-point range in the frame.

The Buckeyes came out of the break with momentum, outscoring OSU 10-2 in the opening minutes of the third quarter. The teams would trade baskets throughout the remainder of the period, with Ohio State leading by 10 going into the fourth.

Oklahoma State attempted to put together a run early in the final quarter, with Heard, Noble and Asi all scoring in the paint. The Buckeyes would respond, however, putting the game away down the stretch.

The Cowgirls held the Buckeyes to 42-percent shooting and 5-of-27 (18.5 percent) from 3-point land on the night but shot just 33 percent from the field and 3-of-24 (13 percent) from 3-point range themselves.
