Several Black Diamonds named to All-District 4A-4 football team

Several Sallisaw Black Diamonds football players were named to the All-District 4A-4 Football Team, with six players getting special honors.

Quarterback Brock Streun was named the Co-Offensive Most Valuable Player, Cole Stephens the Co-Running Back of the Year, Craten Sides the Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year, Noah Flores the Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Braxton Lamb the Co-Linebacker of the Year and Parker Pratt the Co-Defensive Back of the Year.

Black Diamonds who were named to the team were receiver Max Stump, defensive lineman Mikey Maust, defensive end Caden Pollard and linebacker Kolten Riggs.

Streun passed for 844 yards and eight touchdowns, while rushing for 1,138 yards and 16 TDs.

Stephens rushed for 1,040 yards and 16 touchdowns, while catching 12 passes for 115 yards and a TD.

While Sides was honored as an offensive lineman, on defense he had three tackles and a pass break-up.

Flores had 39 tackles, nine of which were solo, with eight tackles for loss to go with 4.5 quarterback sacks, 11 QB hurries, an interception, a pass break-up and a caused fumble. Lamb had 61 tackles, 12 solo, with five tackles for loss to go with two QB hurries, an INT, a pass break-up and a caused fumble. Offensively , he caught 11 passes for 89 yards and three touchdowns.

Pratt recorded 47 tackles, 19 solo, with a tackle for loss along with three INTs, two pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and a caused fumble.

Stump caught 27 passes for 317 yards and a TD. Defensively, he had 22 tackles, 15 solo, along with a QB hurry, an INT, two pass break-ups and a caused fumble.

Maust had 46 tackles, 10 solo, with nine tackles for loss along with 3.5 QB sacks, a QB hurry and a caused fumble.

Pollard recorded 33 tackles, four solo, with four tackles for loss to go with three QB sacks, six QB hurries and a fumble recovery.

Riggs amassed 85 tackles, 26 solo, with four tackles for loss along with two QB sacks, five QB hurries, an INT, two pass break-ups and a caused fumble.

The Black Diamonds, after going 1-19 over the last two seasons, went 7-5 this season — a season in which they ended a 17-game losing streak — and made the Class 4A playoffs for the first time in three seasons. Sallisaw’s season ended with a Class 4A state quarterfinal loss to Blanchard, which played Wagoner for the state championship Thursday night at Wantland Stadium on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
