Vian Wrestling Club members place in Sallisaw, Sperry tournaments

Several Vian Wrestling Club members placed in two tournaments last weekend, with the majority of them earning their medals at Saturday’s Sallisaw Takedown Club Tournament at Paul Post Fieldhouse.

Several Vian Wrestling Club members placed in two tournaments last weekend, with the majority of them earning their medals at Saturday’s Sallisaw Takedown Club Tournament at Paul Post Fieldhouse.

Bronc Sumpter won two titles at the Sallisaw Takedown Club Tournament as he was the champion of the age 10-andyounger 90-pound division and the age 12-and-younger 88-pound division.

Also at the Sallisaw tournament, Dallas Rice (55 pounds, age 8-andyounger division), Rocky Ford (100, 10-and-younger), Luke Sandlin (49, age 6-and-younger) and Klasen Couch (52, age 6-and-younger) all won their respective division crowns.

Axl Branham placed twice at Sallisaw as he was the champion of the age 12-and-younger 130-pound division and was third in the 132-pound division in the age 15-and-younger division.

Charles Lucas was runner-up in two different divisions at Sallisaw — the 92-pound class and 98-pound class — in the age 15-and-younger division.

Other boys runner-up finishers at Sallisaw for the Vian Wrestling Club were Anders Gilbreath (61 pounds, age 8-and-younger division), Kalvin Andrade (100, age 12-and-younger), Knox Branham (52, age 6-and-younger), Reid Locust (70, age 8-and-younger), Zayn Vinson (64, age 10-and-younger) and Cale Winans (80, age 10-and-younger).

Finishing third at Sallisaw were Thomas Sandlin (49 pounds, age 6-andyounger division), Clayton Thomas (112, age 15-and-younger) and Cain Winans (92, age 12-and-younger), while Carlos Rautenberg (106, age 15-and-younger), Bryson Richey (92, age 12-and-younger), Nolan Thomas (60, age 6-and-younger), Kody Perry (85, age 10-and-younger), Hayden Walker (52, age 6-and-younger) and Jettison Constant (55, age 6-andyounger) placed fourth.

In girls matches at Sallisaw, Harlem Lucas was the champion at 58 pounds in the age 8-and-younger division, Madalynn Turman (75 pounds, age 8-and-younger) and Harper Lindsey (52, age 6-and-younger) were runnersup and Kalyn Walker was third at 110 pounds in the age 15-and-younger division.

As a team, Vian Wrestling Club was fifth with 290 points.

At the Sperry Tournament on Saturday, Cara Prock was the girls champion at 98 pounds in the age 12-and-younger division, Joely Hunt was the girls runner-up at both 88 pounds in the age 10-and-younger division and 85 pounds in the age 12-and-younger division, Dax Stewart was the boys runner-up at 70 pounds in the age 10-and-younger division, Caitlin Prock was the girls third-place finisher at 83 pounds in the age 8-and-younger division and Asher Stewart was the boys third-place finisher at 43 pounds in the age 6-andyounger division.
