SALLISAW TOPS

Members ‘brainstorm’ for better chapter

By Billie Anthony

Twelve members were in attendance Monday. We had a chapter net loss of 2 pounds! Jerry had the best weight loss for the week, with a loss of 3.6 pounds. Jerry’s name was drawn for the Two Bit Bowl and she won the quarters. The Losers Lotto contest ended today, so we had a drawing of all 50 entries. My name was drawn, so I won $39. The Ladder contest is going well. As of today, Mary is ahead. Our Chapter Challenge for the week is to walk three times a day for three days.

We discussed our Christmas party next Monday. We are going to play a coffee mug game, which should be lots of fun and laughter.

We had a vote on having a Half Price Membership drive for the month of January. So, if you are interested in joining TOPS in January, your cost will be $25.10 for the year. We will be there to encourage and support you on your weight loss journey. If interested, call me at 918-413-1383. Our program was “Brainstorming for a Better Chapter.” This program is designed to help members discuss and contribute to the ongoing success of the chapter. We asked, are you bored with chapter meeting? Do you feel like some of the excitement, thrill or passion that you felt when you began your experience with TOPS is missing? If so, what can we do as a group to change this? Monday, we brainstormed to create an action plan that will make our chapter better. We came up with a roll call motto for when our members have a slight weight gain. We voted on a motto, “Keep trying— we believe in you!” When they receive positive support—even though they feel like they have failed—they will consider the experience as a positive one and they will feel good about their efforts. We decided to start the Losers Lotto contest again, encourage weekly and monthly losers. Competition was a word that several of the members said that would help them with their weight loss.

We look forward to meeting new members in January.

We closed our meeting with the TOPS Pledge.

EVERYONE is invited to visit. The FIRST VISIT is FREE. It cost $49 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:30am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:30am and the meeting starts at 11am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918-413-1383. We look forward to meeting you.
