Latest basketball version of ‘Battle of 64’ saw Roland boys, Muldrow girls prevail

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

In the latest basketball version of the “Battle of 64,” the two county rivals, host Roland and visiting Muldrow, saw them split the NOAA Conference match-ups.

The Running Rangers capped the night with a 55-31 victory over the Bulldogs after the Lady Bulldogs prevailed 44-38 over the Lady Rangers.

In the boys’ game, the Running Rangers (7-1 overall, 4-0 in conference play) jumped out to a 21-6 lead after a period and never looked back.

For the game, Roland put a trio of players into double figures, with Carson Wiggins leading the way with a gamehigh 14 points, followed by Buck Triplett with 12 points and DaVohn Hall with 11 points. Mason Kemp had seven points, followed by Cason Perryman, Kejuan Youngblood and Paul Johnson with three points each and Raesean Perryman with two points.

In defeat, Teaguen Collins scored 10 points to lead the ’Dogs (3-4, 1-1), followed by Deshawn Wilson and Drew Prewett with five points each, Kashan Bukhari with four points, Hayden Bullock with three points and Parker Sevenstar and Hayden McKinster with two points apiece.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Rangers (6-2, 2-2) had a 12-5 lead after a period en route to a 25-15 halftime advantage and a 33-23 lead entering the final period, but that was where the Lady Bulldogs (61, 2-0) bit back hard as they outscored the Lady Rangers 21-5 to get the come-frombehind win.

For the game, Cailey Grinstead led Muldrow with a game-high 14 points, followed by Claire Tabor with nine points, Kennady Moore with six points and London Hardin, Katelynn Moore and Kayla Ellingberg with five points apiece.

In defeat, Kynlei Earnhart led Roland with 12 points, followed by Lilly Medicine Bird and Haven Freeman with nine points each, Halle Freeman and Addison Cole each with three points and Ryanne Nelke with two points.
